Festival advice from Ladvice. All your festival top tips, do’s and don’ts, and weekend essentials:
Top Tips:
- Sharing a tent with friends or staying alone, double the number of people staying in the tent to get the right tent size. Staying in the tent alone (1 Person) – get a two-person tent. Staying in the tent with one of the lads (2 people) get a 4-person tent.
- Arrival get down there early. Avoid the hustle and bustle. Lads scrambling to find a good spot to pitch their tent.
- Choice of location choose your spot carefully and mark your territory. What is a good tent location? An area near landmarks (help you find your tent), an area of flat land (comfort to sleep and not prone to surface water/ flooding), steer clear of toilets (avoid the smell) choose a spot close to friends or people you could be friends with (good neighbours will make the experience better).
- Be friends with your neighbours, you’ll spend plenty of time close to them over the weekend, have a laugh and enjoy your time together, they can also help with watching over your tent while you’re not there!
- Hide your valuables! (Or don’t bring any) You may never think of robbing someone else’s property, but I hate to break it to you. Others do! Campsites can be a prime area for amateur thieves to take your things!
Weekend Essentials:
- Spare Clothes (A jumper it gets cold at night)
- Baby wipes, a handy way to freshen up without having to join the shower que.
- Bag of cans, it’s going to be a long weekend and assuming you will be drinking cans are the best option. (Personal opinion, they will last longer and help avoid the inevitable crash of starting on the vodka too early.
- A Power bank, phone batteries are notorious for not lasting a full day. So, it’s inevitable you will need a Power bank with a few charges in it to keep yourself connected over the weekend.
- A Towel, if it rains, if you have a spillage, if you get cold, a towel is multipurpose and an essential in my opinion.
- A fold out Armchair, Nothing better than kicking back and relaxing with a luke warm beverage in your hand before heading down to the main stage?
- A Sleeping bag, a no brainer?!
- Toilet Roll, to try make the toilet a slightly more bearable place.
Do’s:
- Get to the Campsite Early! Find a good spot to set up your camp.
- Make note of any acts you MUST see.
- Budget your money. Something to note the que for an ATM could be very long! Get to it early to avoid a que.
- Enjoy yourself. Have fun.
Donts:
- Don’t forget your ticket! (or any of our listed Weekend Essentials)
- Don’t get in trouble with Security or Garda
- Don’t lose your Friends
- Don’t waste the whole day sleeping in your tent
- Don’t lose your personal belongings (Phone, Keys, Wallet especially)
