Cooking Advice

Do you not cook at home? If not what’s your excuse?

Check out our Cooking Advice, cooking made simple. You don’t have to be Master Chef to cook meals at home for yourself, family, friends or girlfriend. Let’s talk about some basic tips on how to make cooking at home that bit easier.

Start simple, cook a meal that doesn’t take much planning or too much time to cook.

Preparation:

Clean your cooking utensils, have your surfaces, cutlery, and pots/ pans/ dishes clean before you begin cooking.

Have all your ingredients ready, make sure you have stocked up with the ingredients you need to cook your meal.

Prepare your ingredients in advance, have your portion sizes ready, your vegetables chopped and meat ready.

Timings:

How long will it take to cook your meal from start to finish, Add your preparation time, plus cooking time plus serving time.

A standard meal will usually take 30/40 minutes.

Make the most of your time!

Plan your timings, what food item will take the longest to cook? Start cooking that first.

The remaining items, Take the time each remaining item away from the time of the item you begin cooking first. That will give you the time to begin cooking each item.

Once you have your preparation and timings done its much easier. Just make sure you don’t put something on, go watch TV and forget about it!

Be careful with the temperatures of your Oven/ Grill/ Cooker. If you put it on too high, the food will burn, if you have it too low, they won’t cook properly. Most food in the oven is cooked at 200 degrees.

Make sure you don’t touch raw meat with a knife, chopping board or your hands and not wash them before completing another task. Hygiene is important.

Cleaning:

If you prepare meat with a knife or chopping board be sure to wash it before you use it on anything else.

Clean as you go, don’t leave it all until after you’ve finished serving your food. You’ll either leave until after you finished eating or you’ll do it before, and the food will be cold by the time your done.

Best case scenario, someone else will clean up! I mean it’s only fair since you did the cooking right?
